Yesterday while shooting I saw this Egret go over a rise and not come up. So whats a photog guy to do, follow him of course :D
As I reached the rise I saw a small pond with severl Egrets, and quite a few Pink Legs.

Well as I approached the pond the pink legs started making a ruckus. I saw several adults flying about a several more prancing about in the water along with 3 or 4 young ones.
They didn't think I should be there :dunno

Then several adults started fliting about one particular baby that had wondered passed that hidden line separates them and us.

They started shoving and pushing the baby into the water or dragging it back across that line, just about anything to keep it out of harms way.

It seemed more like child abuse :wow.

Realizing that it was I that was causing the grief, I took my shots and bid them ado. :D

Excellent set Ben and kudos to ya for recognizing your impact on your subjects and withdrawing from the scene. Lots of photographers would have kept on shooting.

How many photographers does it take to change a light bulb? 50. One to change the bulb, and forty-nine to say, "I could have done that better!"

Great sequence! clap.gif Nice color and sharpness! I saw a similar event at San Joaquin. A Photographer had gone done to the very edge of the pond, and scared the stilts into the open water. The chicks were tiny but could swim quite well. The parent stilts herded them away from the photographer and dive bombed any bird that was even close to the chicks. The photographer did not leave.headscratch.gif

    Hey Harry
I am very proud of Jeff and I (actually all the westies I've shoot with) thumb.gif
We go, see, MachineGun, enjoy but never change, alter, interfere with the order of things.
We are pretty vocal and proactive when it comes to this, even if we see others not following those beliefs!

Hell they don't call us "Photo Thugs" for nuttin rolleyes1.gifblbl.gif :lol

    Yep same tactic.
Seems a rough way to protect the young, but it's way rougher to get eaten :wow
