Heres a new one (I think)...
Cust. contacts me saying cannot view any pics in my galleries..(:huh )
he's in phoenix using QWEST DSL, win xp, IE6, I ask as many specific q's as i can think of and am stumped at this point and am asking for suggestions /
assistance / anything(!) - he can see my thumbs on this page
http://rich56k.smugmug.com/motorcycles
but when he clicks on any, to enter gallery he only sees empty boxs:dunno
I've sent him direct links into my galleries still same result , then sent him links into my oldest lo-res galleries (thinking file size in newer gall. too big?)
and asked to give time to 'load' (even seeded my list of links with 2 links into Andy's site - see att.)same result except for 1 of Andy's (?!?)

Sounds like he's got some sort of firewall blocking us. I can see your site perfectly, all galleries, in IE6.

Why not have him contact our help desk, we'll get him sorted.

Also, (i couldn't find it just now, but i will look again for it later) I believe an older version of the slideshow hack had a problem with a cookie or something, which could cause pages to show up empty. You don't have the newest version of the slideshow code, maybe update it see if that works.

Did you have your customer clear cookies?

good catch ivar! If it is the slideshow bug then the customer just needs to select a style from the style dropdown and the pages will display. the reason it works on that one link from andy's site is because that is a category page and doesnt read the cookie (which is what the slideshow bug b0rked).

the ultimate solution would be to upgrade your slideshow code and then have the customer clear his cookies.

Hi Lee / Andy / Ivar,
Have already sent cust to 'help@smugmug'(last eve), haven't heard back from him yet, although my 'stat log' indicates he spent more time clicking on my links earlier today....
that being said, although this is first incident of it's type for me, should i go ahead and update my SS code?ne_nau.gif
after looking at the latest SS version raises the question ... should it be as 'simple' as:
    1) delete old javascript entirely, replace with the new.
    2) alter my footer html from 'slideshowAlbumId="1240983"' to 'slideshowUrl="http://rich56k.smugmug.com/gallery/1240983"'
    3) add in my 'height' & 'width' options- also in footer
    4) my css (since i'm using SS controls) remains the same?

Lastly as a mac only (iloveyou.gif )user , I don't have a clue, headscratch.gif as to how to have him 'clear his cookies' any instructions would be appreciated(he's on a dell/win :cry xp/ie6)
    Thanks,
    rich

PS: some one from the Netherlands left a gallery comment "uber vet" for me the other day, does any body know what this means?

    In IE6, Tools>Internet Options>Delete Cookies

Yes, you should update your slideshow code.

    Hi Lee,

I did drop him another email with brief exp. and inst. to delete his cookies
    and try my site again...
all your suggestions sure seemed logical given I still had like the second version still runningrolleyes1.gif (from right after you fixed the safari bug!)
Thanks for the suggestions, thumb.gif and the Slide show itself!!thumb.gif
Will drop in with word either way soon as I hear...

    Why cannot I not view...
I was wondering why I am unable to view the image I am trying to submit to the Photo Challenge. I have tried several times, but all I see is the famous little square with an "x" in it.headscratch.gif

I guess it's obvious that this is my first attempt...

Can anyone help me with this?

    Thanks...

Yes, you probably have external links turned to OFF in your gallery settings. Gallery Tools>customize gallery>external links = yes thumb.gif

If that doesn't do it, post a link to the gallery and we'll sort you out :D

    wave.gif welcome to dgrin!

Thanks for the Fine Welcome and Quick Response!
Please pass on my gratitude to Josh and Dustin in customer service, who assisted me for two hours yesterday, as we tried to set about opening my new dgrin account.
I just tried your suggestion to no avail.
I have worked through both AOL and IE, and all I get is the small box with the little "x" in it...
I have used Option 2 in the "how to post" thread...And I have made certain that my computer accepts appropriate cookies.
The link to my gallery is:
    http://scott-mackenzie.smugmug.com/gallery/1214378

Again, I very much appreicate your assistance on this.
All of this down-time has allowed me to look around in Dgrin, and I am extremely impressed with the members as well as the administration.
    Thanks!

    Ho HO!:D
I DO see this photo here!
With your post, I realized that I was actually putting the Entire Address in the Option 2 window, which ultimately told dgrin that the address was
    http//http//...

And THIS was why I was getting the infamous small white box with the little "x" in it!

The mystery is solved, I've lost 10 lbs, and I didn't have to mow the lawn in the sun!

Thank YEW, Andy, and again, Kudos to Josh, John, and Dustin!
