I've been trying out HDR and seem to keep getting these rather surreal results, fun but odd.

I am a beginner at this, how do you do this? Is it in the taking or processing? Any help in telling me where to find out more would be appreciated. Thanks.
Those clouds are awesome. I love the detail. What software are you using? How many frames?

it's not the size of the lens that matters... It's how you focus it.
aaaaa.... who am I kidding!
whoever dies with the biggest coolest piece of glass, wins!
Skippy, I agree it does have a kind of religious vibe going on.
USAIR, I like your HDR's too, they're proper photos, this is a more surreal effect.
2X10D, basically you take different exposures of the same shot (tripod important) either by manually changing the shutter speed or by using your camera's exposure bracketing system. Then you use software to combine the images, the only software I'm currently aware of that does this is Photomatix and Photoshop CS2.
Photomatix here:-

Donek, on this HDR I used 3 exposures, all RAW and performed the HDR with Photomatix.
