Some damselfly shots from this year- eating, mating, laying eggs, and looking vicious. :). #1&2 using flash, rest are natural light.

The forth shot looks like they are getting into a chicken fightrolleyes1.gif. These may be the best close ups of Damsel flys I have ever seen Brian. The last shot is brilliant. Great use of DOF and I love the perspective.

    Thanks Eric
The damsel in #2 is sitting on a door mat, I got fed up with getting damp knees or posterior when doing macro shots, so I scattered a few old door mats round the garden for me to sit on when doing the shots. As it turned out when the mats have warmed a bit in the sun either my cat or the bugs themselves like to sit on them- makes for easy shooting as I can rest the lens on the mat or the ground and take high mag shots without camera shake problems. Do have to move them a bit each day so the lawn doesn't get shaded :)

Thanks Fred, Nick and Dalantech for the compliments/comments :)
These damselflies are great to watch- still trying to get a decent in flight shot though.

I may try that today -weather permitting (we got a blast of hot humid air from Africa this morning and I was treated to a light show on my way to work). They are very difficult to focus on when they are sitting still, so I'm not sure how much luck I'll have, but some of them move so slow from perch to perch that they almost hover...
