Frightening images that make my blood run cold. You can almost see the poor inhabitants within. A monument to never forget.

The scariest part of this was talking to the tour guide afterwards. She said neo-Nazis sometimes attack people at Auschwitz, and break in at night, fornciate in the barracks in Birkenau and yell out "We want this to happen again!" and such things.
But the woman in the photo was a wonderful human being, great sadness, but not an ounce of bitterness. I'll always remember her, she saved the experience from being one of total pessimism.

I stared at these images for a long time.

I recommend you read Elie Wiesel's Night.

Thank you for sharing, even though I am only 33 and have no memory of WW2 your images made my stomach turn. :cry

Let it stand as a reminder of what happens when the world stands by on the outside looking in. I hope this prevents history repeating itself!
