I was headed home from work and saw this heron on the golf course... had to stop to take some pics... after I tried and tried to get close (and have lots of pics of him walking around the other side of the waterhole (was like a comedy... I'd walk toward him.. he'd walk away from me)... he finally flew off and landed in a tree. Then instead of just me harrassing him with my camera.. a little hawk did about 3 flyby's and really ticked him off... But I finally got this shot...

Was using my D70s with the 70-300mm at 300mm, F8.0, 1/125, ISO 400. I cropped this and did a bit of tweaking in PS...

Comments always welcome... especially from you people that are so good at bird photography!

You did a nice job Denise. It's not always easy shooting birds in trees with all the cast shadows and typically bright backlighting. The only suggestion I might make is I would have picked up a rock or stick and thrown it at the GBH so I could capture that flight shot. eek7.gif :uhohrolleyes1.gif:D j/k.

How many photographers does it take to change a light bulb? 50. One to change the bulb, and forty-nine to say, "I could have done that better!"
