this is a butterfly that stopped to pose for me while i was hiking up to Silver Falls in Pagosa Springs, CO.

    I am jealous, I tried all last summer to get a photo of one of those. Great shot! I miss those butterflies!

    It's a swallowtail butterfly. I'm thinking a standard Tiger Swallowtail of the U.S., though it might be a western, but the markings and the tail pattern make me think it's a regular. :)
