Websites as tear sheets?

Every now and again, my dayjob calls upon my to bust out a couple of portraits of our staff for use on various feature pages. And, every nw and again I go sniffing around for photo credentials and am often blunted when they want to see tear sheets or other examples of my work, published. So my question is this: have any of you had experience with using websites as tearsheets, and if so, what is your process? Do you provide a URL, provided that the page will be around for some time, or do you go for a high gloss print? Any question of authenticity, seeign as you could have obviously photoshopped your work into the site in question?

Now that anyone can be a publisher, a tear sheet from the web doesn't win the day.

I assumed that was how it worked, but figured it couldn't hurt to ask. Thanks for the responses, now back to the lab.
