For some unknown reason I have begun to understand a little bit about editing......it started last week when I opened my video cabinet and got out a PhotoShop Tutorial about Elements....and and and get this .....
I WATCHED IT :rolleyes yup it's scary isn't it :rofl

Okay now go easy....... one thing I am not sure about is this.
I applied a gradient filter to the sky, but I noticed it seems to leave Horizontal lines that to me really stick out, how do you smart people deal with such lines showing up? ... Enjoy my effort.... Skippy (Australia)

    Skippy,

I'm gona go against the flow here, and say I like it as is. Yes there is lens flare, but I think it adds to the somewhat sureal look.

I think Skippy is referring to the horizontal faint lines (almost like banding) that show in the blue gradient, not the flare. I can faintly see them in the upper left corner.

It's really hard to see on this small image, but I put it in photoshop and increased the size view, and I do see some lines, but anytime you push an image this can happen.

Here is what I would look at: reduce the gradient, back off the saturation, levels, contrast, try clone, healling brush at a very reduced opacity. Start over. Was this shot in RAW? If not go out your garage, get a hammer, and smack your self in the head a few times while chanting "I must shoot RAW....I must shoot RAW".

I think it's a great image well worth whatever the effort to achieve a result that I see on my screen.

This would be great at a large size!

Hi Fred..........well I watched the Video, however I had watched it before, but I must not have been all that interested at the time, but this time what I saw and heard really sunk in.

I am using PhotoShop Elements 3 with the added hack of CURVES.

The image has been cropped from the bottom to make it look more panoramic, levels, contrast, and Curves applied.

Next I isolated the sky which was quite a dull blue almost blue-grey in colour and applied the gradient blue filter to my liking.

While I was looking for the Gradient Blue Filter I noticed there was one for adding different lighting effects and one had different kinds of lens flares in it so I chose the one I used in my image.

Did a little noise reduction and applied an unsharp mask :D Skippy

Hey there Sam............yes it is shot in RAW, Mr Williams drummed that into my head a long time ago nod.gif I only altered a copy of the orginal and for internet purposes it is reduced to this small size to display here.

I will have another go at it and see what I can come up with.

Hey there Nikolai.......... I'm finally getting around to processing some shots, even though my computer is still not happy :uhoh

You know Nik you don't realize how much you actually take in during these Shoot Out Events till you start trying to put into action things you heard or saw......just being with people who are keen to learn and share their knowlege is a wonderful experience.

    Take Care Nik........... Skippy (Australia)

    Same here.
After the first one I realized how much you learn by just basically hanging around and having a seemingly innocent chitchat...
That why I opted for a "post"-shootout (instead of "pre", I could not have both ne_nau.gif ), since I was hoping to put all the info I acquired during the primary event to a good use..:):

that is definitely photoshop flare. and it definitely works too.

the flare fx is pretty cool, you can pick from several lenses that ps2 tries to mimic.
