Brings back memories. I've driven by Window Rock a couple of times. I used to know people in Dilkon, Low Mountain, Indian Wells and Burnt Corn. That last one has nothing but a clay road that is especially tricky to drive on when wet! And I even fished for trout in Tsailee Lake--they have some BIG beavers there, too!

Never made it to Canyon De Chelley, though.

Glad to hear from another Arizonan. I grew up just the other side of Mingus Mtn from you. Little town called Chino Valley where the Verde river actually starts.

I am looking at making another trip up there in a month or two to get Antelope Canyon, Bryce, Zion, and Monument Valley. If your up for it, let me know.

Yeah, I know Chino Valley. Not far from Watson Lake, with all its big boulders along one part of the shoreline.

Soooooooo, how do you like the malignant growth of Prescott Valley?:puke

Makes you want to visit Sturm Ruger, pick up a .454, and...

...well, maybe shoot at some fence posts in frustration rolleyes1.gif

Yeah, except now the closest you can go to shoot is 25 miles away. When my family first moved to chino valley there were no stop lights, no fast food restaraunts, hell no paved road other than Hwy 89. We use to grab our guns drive four miles and shoot all day.
Speaking of Watson lake I will probably be there this weekend. Take my son fishing at Lynx Lake and play with our Nylint RC rockcrawlers in the Dells there by Watson.

    OHMIGOSH! These are fantastic!!! :wow

We're moving to AZ next month. Your timing could not have been better. If I can find places to shoot pictures like this, I'll be one happy camper.

    Thanks for posting these. Wow....

Let me give you an early welcome. You will be here just in tme to enjoy the little bit of humidity we do get.
Arizona has a wide range of landscapes you will enjoy it.

What part of AZ are you moving to?

You have a lot of places near you I have yet to shoot.
Hoover Dam, Lake Mead, Havasu, the river area south of Parker is a protected area with lots of birds, and there is a wilderness area south and east of havasu.

Look forward to seeing your shoots.

Thanks! I can't tell you how excited I am about it. I took this shot early Sunday morning from the top of Mt. Hualapai.

Maybe we'll hook up some time for a desert shoot.

Lynx "Lake"? It still exists? I thought that little puddle had dried up by now or at least been all fished out. You might be better off fishing at the Page Springs Hatchery (try not to get caught).

Between Cottonwood and Clarkdale is Pecks Lake, but I've been told just last week that they don't let anyone in there anymore. As Clarkdale used to be the smelting town for Jerome's copper mines, I was never in a hurry to touch THAT water:uhoh ...with so little rain having fallen this year, I bet Watson Lake and Granite Reef reservoir are very, very lowwwwwwww.

Anyway, take some pictures of your rockcrawlers and, if by some miracle any pronghorn antelope happen by, sieze the opportunity! If nothing else, there's always Thumb Butte. :giggle

Well considering my son is only 6, it is more casting than fishing. Any puddle will work. I would never want to mess with any fish from Watson with the treatment plant being up stream. We do Lynk because it is easy to get to. Goldwater and Granite Basin aren't pad puddles either.
Nameing off all these places makes me want to go back up just to shoot. Haven't been to Jerome or Sedona in a while.

Us Arizonans should plan a meet and shoot somewhere between Central and Northern AZ. We could show kdog some of the sites.
