I popped over to Leeds Castle in Kent last weekend, primarily to shoot the Birds of prey they keep there but I also took a few of the castle. I found shootign the Catsle, and the surrounding buildings very hard so I'd like some input on how to improve the shoots and what to really look for when shooting such location. I feel as if I've missed a lot but can;t put my finger on it.

    you asked; I'm tellin'-

(just my thoughts; I hope someone else will jump in and say yea or nay; sometimes you learn from looking at other's pics and trying to determine what might help the photo)-

the color photos have a green or yellow cast to them-

several could have been shot or cropped a little better-
3-top of castle 4-bottom of door knocker-

number 7 would be perfect for combining two exposure shots-I'm guessing your camera did what it's supposed to do and got the metering perfect- averaged the bright light and the dark corners and got you to the middle-giving you the bright light and the dark corners-

if that doesn't help any, sorry-

I would love to read someone else's c&c-

    Hi George & Skippy

Firstly thanks for the comments and helpful pointers -

    1. green/yelow tint - Fully agree. Its a problem with the most panasonic cameras except the LC1 and the FZ30, and the FZ10's auto WB does this a lot. My camera just loves giving everything a green/yellow tint. Sometimes a manual WB works but others like in these it didn;t and I didn;t do too good a job in Pshop to fix it.

    2. Cropping - yep that was a real stupid error esp on the tower on No 3 and the bottom of the door knocker on No.4 and I only noticed these once I got home.

    3. No.7's - bracketing the shot didn;t even come to mind so thanks for the tip as I'll definetely try that for the next visit.

Skippy, thanks for sorting out the pic thumb.gif and I don;t have aproblem with anyone fixing the pics - looks much better than the original esp the detail and contrast in the brick work and that green/yellowish cast is no more. Sand castles' sound much better to me !

I'll have to take a small white car with me and manually set the WB. Hopefully, I'm going to move up to a DSLR within the next month my FZ10 is a cool cam but it does have its limits.

    Cheers
