Way, way too much wind today -but I needed some more practice with the flash so I went. Here are the results -minimal post processing and no cropping.

This shot was taken in manual mode F16, 1/250, ISO 200:

And I like this last shot due to the lighting, background, and the shallow depth of field:

C&C always welcome. Sorry: No mating pairs today :D

Excellent questions Awais! I shoot damselflies and dragonflies so much that I'm always looking for new compositions -keeps my photography of them from getting stale...

An example for Awais: I was right up on this extremely territorial Violet Darter -he wasn't going to move no matter what I did and he didn't care that I was only 20 to 30 centimeters from him. I could, and did, shoot him from any angle that I wanted. But of all the photos that I took that day I like this one best:

Almost looks like he's flying out of that corner instead of being perched...

You know, I've actually been concerned about the flash possibly damaging them. But I've watched them hunt while I photograph them, so their eyes don't seem to react to light the way ours do.

This guy was leaving his perch, catching flies, and coming right back to where I was shooting him -I didn't even have to reposition the camera...

Sorry for the black background -this image was taken when I was shooting only in manual mode and often the flash was my only source of light...

Forgot to answer that part of your question: When I was post processing I really didn't think that those leaves were distracting -but maybe it would be better if I took them out... headscratch.gif
