Ruby-throated hummingbirds

This is a sample of some of the males (it might be only one male given that they are quite territorial) that visit our feeder everyday. Surprisingly, the females are a lot more wary of me and the camera than these greedy guys are. Consequently, they are more difficult to photograph.

How many photographers does it take to change a light bulb? 50. One to change the bulb, and forty-nine to say, "I could have done that better!"
Hi David got to see my first ever for REAL Hummingbirds in May on our way to Bryce........ those tiny birds are just amazing and fast.....boy fast is not quite the word is it one second they are there, next second they are gone.
I was taken back not only by their Tiny size and frame, but by their brilliant colours too....... the feeders were up too high for me and alas my attempts at photographing them sucked big time but I still went away happy because I had actually been able to see them with my own two eyes for the first time in my life thanks for sharing you beautiful Hummingbird shots......... :skippy Everyone has the right to be stupid, but some people just abuse the privilege :dgrin
Skippy, plenty of my other shots sucked! I think for every shot that was in-focus or completely framed I took about another 20 or so that were crappy. Saved by digital!
Hopefully they will be around for a while longer yet so I can improve on these.
