Read a few blurbs that are saying Firefox 2.0 release is imminent. Any of you software guys played around with the beta releases? Any worthwhile new toys coming out in 2.0?

Rumour has it there is a spectacular new UI feature. It will be possible to click on a tab to close it, rather than needing to move the cursor to a button on the right hand end of the toolbar.

    What about that, now?

just downloaded one of the nightly builds, here's the new tab bar...

there is also an 'undo close tab' feature, so u can reopen a tab at a specifici url if u close it by mistake. The only problem is that my extensions don't work.

Is it possible to access this from a toolbar, or is it in the edit menu?

Weird, I've already got those features (close tab button on tab, undo close tab, remember and change tab order) in Firefox 1.5.x. They are all probably extensions though... I unfortunately use the undo close tab feature quite a bit.

Update: Confirmed these features are in the Tab Mix Plus extension. I would suggest trying out this extension over installing the beta if you want these features.

I have these features from the Tab Mix Plus extension - I guess they are going to be standard FF now, huh.

Any other features in the new version that would make it worthwhile installing?

There is supposed to be a built-in spell checker. That should be convenient when posting on BBs like Dgrin.

Keep in mind that what is being released is a beta. I'm going to wait till the production version comes out, as 1.5 seems plenty good to me.

Oh, BTW, I just installed a neat little extension called Back to Top. It simply adds go to top and go to bottom options to the right-click menu, which is convenient when you are mousing around.
