A street fair question

I went to the Japanese Obon festival this weekend and got some pictures. The organizers of the festival want to put some of these pix in their next newsletter.

Is it legally okay for me to give/sell these pictures without a waiver from the people who's picture I took? I don't know those people -- they were just random shots at a large street fair.

Here are a couple of examples:

I'm new at this so I thought I'd ask.
Thanks in advance. :)

Yes, the event was a public event, you are not misrepresenting them, using their image commercially (endorse/sell a product) and the final useage is for a news outlet. If you have any question regarding how the newletter will display/use your photos, just get a letter from them stating that the photos will be used for "Editorial" purposes only (as opposed to advertising).

I am not an attorney (former photo journalist), but I think that you will be pretty safe with the above. Also, check this out from an attorney.
