Ok, I thought I would give this theme a try. Probably should re-shoot it, but any comments are welcome.

Now, it's time for me to tend to the dirty laundry that you see in the background of the first picture. :wink

"Self Portrait" Angled mirrors in bathroom. Used a 4 point star filter.

    Moved the mirror a little...

    Oops.
This is what happens when you leave CDs laying around your house...

I like this one the best! Nice. The lack of highlights in the upper left is a bit distracting

I agree. I like this one the best, I would just use the available lighting more to your advantage. Im sure you can find a good way to do this.

    Re-shoot
Ok, I tried re-shooting the guitar shot. One with f4 and the second with f13 Which one do you like best?

I like the f/4 because it draws your eye to the bottom of the shot and right to the fender logo. I wish the horizontal line on the left continued on the right. I think everything needs to be symetrical for this shot to work.

Yeah, I see what you mean about the symmetry. I wonder if a few props will allow some asymmetry. What do you think of these?

I like your first image the best - The hat offers the asymmetry and a secondary focal point that was needed. Once again, a very nice demonstration of the beauty of soft window light - Like I have said before - The Old Masters really were onto something about the quality of north window light. 1drink.gif

Ahh, yes, I know what you mean about the natural light from windows, etc. I've always struggled how to best take advantage of that light without it being to harsh.

    Fireplace
These are probably not worthy of the challenge, but I was playing with some fireplace shots, and thought I would post these and see what people think...

I like this one, I would just crop tighter on the right. The window could be cropped off...
I like the including of the sticks and the hat. It tells you more then the guitar alone...

<grin> Yeah, it's cold and windy here today...so I decided to fire-up (pardon the pun) the 'ol fireplace and sit next to it. We don't get to use our fireplaces very often here in the desert of California. :cry

OK, I will go with the herd on this one. Good to see someone else has the same kinds of issues I have when setting up a photo. You don't want to know how many "Road Kill Helper" shots I took. :D

I am in agreement with everyone else as well. The portrait shot of the guitar and hat is very nice. I liked it the second I saw it in the challenge thread. The fireplace shots are definitely worthy of the challenge. I especially like the second one. Very interesting flame movement. The guitar is better though IMO.:D

I like the fire shots, but this is the one I like best. It's cool to see how you worked your way through to it.
