wow - stunning portraits of stunning animals! But what's up w/ the last one? Looks like it was rescued from a home (?) where it was abused

Thank you....they were taken at Melbourne Zoo.
The last one was taken at Werribee Open Range Zoo. He's not abused - he's just not very young and had just woken up from a nap so was looking kinda groggy Nothing terrible going on!

Wow. Really stunning photos - I like the drama of 1 and 5. Was this done with clever lighting (understandably hard with these subjects) or good photoshopping?

The lighting in the Tiger enclosure is quite dark, but it looks like a jungle so when it is overcast I generally get even lighting. But the first one has been photoshopped to bring out the colour.
The Lion isn't photoshopped that much. I burnt out the background, and then blurred/resharpened so he's not ultra sharp. I also played with some blending mode.
The Snow Leopard is mostly just touch up work - contrast, sharpness.
The sepia lion is mostly just changed to duotone and cropped.
As for the bars - yep there was a cage I had to get through, but as the sun wasn't reflecting off the bars and I had a 300mm lens....I did not get any effects of it.

So where in OZ were these cats to be found?? Rehab shelter or zoo?

Was there a fence in your way? If so, how were you able to remove its effects from your shots?
