I got a chance to go camping with my sons this weekend up in Cuyamaca Rancho State Park, CA. This is about 60 miles East of San Diego. There were a lot of burnt/dead trees which made for fairly gothic subjects.

But it is a "rancho" after all so there are interesting landscapes as well:

nice images thumb.gif the tree in #1 and especially #2 has a surrealistic look,, like something by Dali. :):
The subtle sepia tone works well IMHO.

Wow, that's quite a compliment! Thank you. I'm glad you liked them.

Great series of shots Erich!! My favorite is the last one with the hay bails.

I've tried doing some shots in the mid-west with them but didn't have the success you did. Great work!!

Thanks Adam! It was hard to get that last one. I couldn't seem to find a suitable vantage point. That's the best I could do but it wasn't exactly what I wanted to get. Oh well, I guess it's part of the lifetime search for those perfect shots.

I think you did very well in that last shot. I like the way the tree and the tall grass in the foreground lead you into the shot. thumb.gif
