lightroom library question

okay, so I just downloaded the Windows version.

I just don't "get" the Library function. With Adobe Bridge, I had all these nice and neat folders where I can find every image. Well, I imported my images into Lightroom and now all I have is one massive blob of thousands of images! Lightroom imports the images, but not the folders or directories that they were located in.

How am I supposed to find anything? For example, I see 3 versions of the same image one right after another. one of them is RAW and the other two are different jpeg conversions. With Bridge I keep all my RAW files in a separate folder - Lightroom just mixes them all up together.

Any ideas?

:huh

This is controlled in the Import Photos window.

When you import {CTRL+I}, choose the high-level folder where your photos are stored.

Then, in the Import Photos window, choose Segment by: Folder.

You can also organize photos by Containing Shoot, which places the imported photo folders under a higher level category.

I haven't tried the automatic import feature. Is that what you did?
