zoo-zoo-zoo pal....
Here is a shot I took yesterday at the Milwaukee County Zoo, in Milwuakee WI. I had to shoot through glass, with zoo lighting, hand held, with my 20D, 70-200L F2.8 IS, at F2.8 @ 1/40 IS activated, at ISO 800. The focal length was at 195mm (not incudining 1.6x factor). Just goes to show you how nice it can be to have IS when you need it.
I needed the IS quite often too.
Here's a 100% crop of his eyes...which isn't bad at all, considering the conditions, and the zoo glass......which is never the best "filter"

How many photographers does it take to change a light bulb? 50. One to change the bulb, and forty-nine to say, "I could have done that better!"
