Hi all,
I was lucky enough to get a couple Nikon lens from a relative and even if I don't have a DSLR I played with the lens in my hand just to get "the feeling" if you know what I mean.
Anyway, this specific len is in very good condition, no marks, scratches or anything, the zoom ring is super smooth and feels good in my hand. The focus ring on countrary puzzles me. The problem is that it doesn't stop at its start or end posistion. I mean, If I turn it and reach the infinite position I can keep turning past it. Is this normal? Thanks for any help you might give me. :):

PS: I'm so desperately lookin' for a DSLR to fullfill my passion.....Damn Nikon announced a new one coming! Can't wait. I was almost sold on a brand new D70s.....:dunno

Spoke with Nital (Nikon importer in Italy) few minutes ago on the phone. The focus ring is supposed to keep travel past its stop points. It's no problem. No need to worry. I'm super happy. :D

And, here's some reading material for you on that lens.
Ken Rockwells take on this lens...
    And Bjørn Rørsletts take...

I would give more credence to Bjorn's take as he actually uses the lens he reviews while Ken will frequently "review" items he hasn't used.

Here another good source for Nikon info http://bythom.com/nikon.htm

How many photographers does it take to change a light bulb? 50. One to change the bulb, and forty-nine to say, "I could have done that better!"

    Thanks Seymore and Harry,
in fact after I was gifted with this len I took a look at various Nikon users website and especially Thom's review made me very happy. I just have to wait for a DSLR body now. Hope the new Nikon will be something to look for. :):
