I shot these early this morning. Minimal post processing and no cropping. RAW files edited with Canon's Digital Photo Professional and Photoshop Elements 4. They are about the diameter of a U.S. nickle (about a centimeter). Canon 20D + 100mm macro.

    I have a favor to ask. :):

Could you please post the first shot cropped to the bottom of the flower bud with a little of the stem showing at a resolution of 600 at the long end.

I'd like to see more detail for such a lovely picture. The size you posted is so small.

    Please? clap.gif

You sure don't seem to have any trouble finding butterflies, dragonflies, or Damsel flies do you ..... I'm gonna have to wait till spring to even hope to find anything around my place.

    Thanks for sharing........ Skippy (Australia)

    Thanks!

The 100mm macro is often described as a "hidden L"...

Cropped as a 6x4 and resized to 600 pixels on the long end (it was over 1000 pixels after the crop).

What amazes me is that these butterflies, because they are so small, don't look all that special from a distance. But up close they're almost a rainbow of color! Even the antenna are striped...

Finding critters isn't the hard part -getting close enough to film them without resorting to using the cop tool is... :):

You're a sweetheart! And you're still kicking after the "crop". Now this version I like very much. iloveyou.gif

Once in awhile you can throw in a crop for us...OK!

Why would you crop to a 6x4 first???

    Down & dirty...crop and resize.

Just for the aspect ratio -that's all. I kept it at the same aspect ratio that I shot it at and then resized it to 600 pixels on the long end. Glad you liked it -I just wish I could have been close enough to see that composition in the view finder :):
