    35 f/2.0
    50 f/1.8
    50 f/1.4
    85 f/1.2L
    85 f/1.8
    100 f/2.0
    100 f/2.8 Macro
    135 f/2.0L

If every keystroke was a shutter press I'd be a pro by now...

    Ok...
so that was only *slightly* sarcastic....:D

But seriously, at a minimum, you need to provide your budget, body, and a little bit about your preferred shooting style to get any real input on a question like this....

Canon 85mm f1.8 is a terrific lens. It focuses fast and it's 1.8 is great in low light. I also happens to be a very good portrait lens. It's long on cropped sensor bodies so it's not like you can just use this lens.

The Sigma 30mm f1.4 is another excellent lens. Gives you a "normal" fov lens for cropped sensor bodies.

For a "zoom" -- the Tamron 17-50 f2.8 should be on your list of lenses to consider....as well as the much more expensive Canon 17-55 f2.8 IS. But that lens has IS.

You are using a dRebel XT, according to your profile, so you need to take that into consideration.

Are you shooting with or without flash?
    At what distance?

Without knowing those things, I can only make vague recommendations, based on my own use.

I use a Sigma 18-50mm, f2.8, for most interior events. I supplement that with a Canon 70-200mm, f2.8L for distance and close-ups. Both of these are used with an external flash when possible. (Canon EF-S 17-55mm f/2.8 IS USM is a better Canon equivalent to the Sigma.)

The Canon 50mm, f1.4, should be a wonderful lens for most ambient light indoors, without flash. The Canon 24mm f/1.4L USM, Canon 85mm f/1.2L II USM and the Canon 135mm f/2L USM would also have a place for ambient light work.

Sorry I did not provide more information, BUT you guys have given me some awesome ideas. I really appreciate it. I have to see what the prices are.
I am leaning towards the Canon F-S 17-55mm f/2.8 IS USM.

Body - Rebel XT; low lighting - simple flash.....

Thanks again - you guys are wonderful !!!

    - have a good Sunday evening - jerry
