I love the colors in this one plus I really like the capture of the sun rays. I've never been able to get the rays in any of my attempts. Good going:D.

The first pic suffers from blah blah suburbia, the second needs a wee bit of cropping or cloning to rid it of the tree branches that sort of come out of nowhere, but the third pic is sensational. Nice shooting. You've got that shot dialed. Circular polarizer?

Thank you all for the replies. I think the 3rd one is my favorite also. I didn't use a circular polarizer but I did set the exposure compensation to -0.7. The first 2 are more acurate as far as the actual colors of this sunset, but I like the more dramactic colors in the third.

I really am feeling the suburban blah-blah's, I wish I had a nice beach & some palm trees for my foreground but that is not in the cards for me right now. :): I did clone out one lightpost that was in the lower left of the second shot but maybe I'll go back and work on the other one and the trees from nowhere.

Thanks again for the C&C. I know the only way for me to improve is to hang out with a lot of people who are better than me :D

Thanks for the warm welcome :D
I'd love to catch a sunrise someday but my motivation is seriously stretched at that time of day! I'm definitely NOT a morning person :nah

My husband tells me that the sunrise from Aurora Hills Golf Course (his work) is incredible also.

Lets see, Garden of the Gods, Pikes Peak, Royal Gorge, Aspen, Estes Park, Vail, and any place else with a mountain view.......

:) Yer welcome on the welcome.
Have never shot out at Aurora Hills before...usually for sunrises I try to either be near water, Cherry Creek, Chatfield, Wash, or high up, say Lookout Mountain. I have found though that the sunrises are usually much more color intense than sunsets. I was never a morning person either til I got my first really good sunrise shot, now I am addicted lol

Well I guess I'm jealous of all the exotic places that everyone else on DG seems to be. :D Actually I love Colorado (I'm one of the hated SoCal transplants, but shhhh don't tell Kkart!) it is an amazing place to live, but since I'm a regular 8 to 5er with a young family to attend to I don't always have many opportunities to visit all the best locations. I will say that sunsets like these are a nearly nightly occurance in Denver, so we're very lucky in that respect.

There are a few small ponds out on the course for water hazards and there's also the possibility of catching the mowers out working at sunrise which I hear is pretty cool to see. Maybe someday I'll get my lazy butt up early enough to shoot it.

I know there were a few sunrises this winter at around 6:30ish where I looked out my kitchen window and dang near dropped my mug o' coffee the colors were so amazing.

My very early years were spent in Thousand Oaks then my parents moved us out to the Antelope Valley, good ole Littlerock CA when I was in 4th grade. I left there shortly after high school and I 've been in Colorado almost 10 years now. I think I made it just before the mass migration and both my boys are natives so does that make me a naturalized Coloradoan??? ne_nau.gif

I was out running some errands tonight and I could tell the sunset was going to be awesome so I high tailed it back to the house to grab my camera and actually went scouting for a good sunset shooting location. I think this spot turned out ok, what do you all think??? :D

This is my favourite of the 3 thumb.gif I love the way the sun is coming through those clouds with parts of the coloured sky still exposed.
