Positive options on Selling Digital Downloads?

Something Andy said in another thread was that Smugmug has a history of working hard on customer support (boy oh boy is that an understatement - The support is incredible!) and has provided a number of workarounds for people as new real features aren't as timely as a lot of people (Me included) would like...
So, has anyone implemented any sort of digital download system on Smugmug, short of asking customers to just email you the filename of the print they want and conducting the transaction completely offsite?
Is for example there some clever code that can send a sales request with all the details with a single click, or even kick the sales details to an e-commerce provider to walk the customer pay for the good, and then alert you, as the photographer to manually provision the digital file(s) (through email, password protected temp gallery on Smugmug, temporary FTP account etc)
I'm looking for an excuse not to try Exposure manager since I am 99.9% confident that the actual day to day support for users can't be better than Smugmug, but I so desperately want to offer digital photo sales without having to arrange payment manually for every transaction.
So... Any thoughts? Any input welcome...
(Yes, I know Andy is away on holiday, my timing sucks - but someone else might have tried something)

I dont have time now but I looked into it and it was feasible but I never actually set it up yet.
You van put the html for a paypal button set to your paypal account in the image caption on smugmug.
then when someone clicks it dos a paypal order for X amt the customer would need to ytype in which image though.
My www. place is www.belperphoto.co.uk

Hi Neil,
Are we ever really "away" in this day and age?
I'm sure there are ways to do what you are asking.
The various paypal hacks we've had around on Dgrin for a year or so work just fine,
http://www.dgrin.com/showthread.php?t=19079&highlight=paypal+additions
the buyer pays, you get notified, and you fulfill.
Of course, we'd like an automated, true shopping cart experience, including the delivery of the file, and then the only thing you have to do is count your $$
Digital Downloads via SmugMug are very important to us, and the matter has had our attention for some time. Stay tuned!

Careful Andy! You nearly had me thinking that something was about to happen :-)
But seriously, thanks for the link and the validation that it's a reasonalbe idea for a workaround.
Cheers - Neil G
