The Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ50 is the latest digicam from Panasonic that is a "do it all" type fixed-lens camera.

I can't wait to se the full reviews.:): Lots of promises, let's see how they're fulfilled.

    I generally like the Panasonic cameras. They usually are well built, have Leica lenses, and offer a good set of features. Their achiles heel is noise and it looks like it continues to be a problem with their sensors. I suspect the VEIII will improve their JPEG's a bit but I doubt it'll do better than what you can get out of RAW processing.

    I actually got one of those puppies a few weeks ago. The noise issue is greatly improved compared to the FZ-20 that I up-graded from. So far I am very happy with it. I like the fact that you can increase the optical zoom by lowering the the file size. I took a shot the other day at 17x zoom using the 5mp setting. I was pleased with the results.

    I need a lumix sometimes the 350d is overwhelming.
