Went downtown today to visit a friend and we walked through the Lincoln Park Zoo. Not much was out but these two Chimps were fun to watch. The one laying on its back was chewing on a stick and the other came by and started chewing on the other end. Guess you had to be there. But anyways here is the shot.

    Nice shot!

We're going to the SF Zoo in a couple of weeks, I can't wait.

How many photographers does it take to change a light bulb? 50. One to change the bulb, and forty-nine to say, "I could have done that better!"

Thanks Harry. If you think this is interesting, you should have seen the chimp that grabbed two folded burlap blankets, unfolded them, laid one out on the ground, laid down on it and then covered himself with the other. I almost couldn't believe my eyes.

Thanks Eric. Good luck at the zoo, hope you have good weather. I don't know if you have ever shot at a zoo before but if you are going to here are a couple tips I've learned.
    • Animal houses are very dark, don't be afraid to use high ISO, this was shot at ISO 1600
    • If you are shooting through glass try to get your lens as close as you can to it, use a wide open aperture, watch for reflections and glare on the glass and try to avoid it.
    • If you are shooting through a fence use the same advice as shooting through glass but also watch for sunlight hitting the fence, it can create specular highlights, try to shoot through part of the fence that is in the shade if possible.
    • Most importantly, don't hurry and enjoy yourself and your time with the animals.
