Cart stuff: https & empty

Andy, et. al. -

I was showing off smugmug yesterday to some family members (gallery link)... when I got to the "and then you can just add a photo to your cart, enter your payment info, and they'll ship them directly to you" part the wheels came off! :)

The browser was Safari on a Mac iBook, not sure what version (it wasn't mine). The problem was that we added an image to the cart, clicked on "on to cart" and viola! -- an Empty Cart! :(

I did a quick search & this seems like a common issue. Further, I'm using a vanity domain & it sounds like that's a problem for Safari and some of it's cookie settings.

Not the end of the world, but it was a failed demo that may have made the difference between someone switching over from Shutterfly vs. not. Any plans to address this common issue/category of issues?

2nd thing I noticed while investigating this problem is a sequence of events that will get you "stuck" in https mode:

1. Add photo to cart
2. View cart
3. Click "Empty Cart"
4. Click "Continue Browsing"

At this point, the user gets kicked back to the gallery page, but with an https URL. Because of this (and my vanity URL) the user gets a relatively scary "Domain Mismatch" security alert.

Not a terrible issue, but something that should probably be addressed sooner or later. Any kind of a security warning on a site where people may enter their credit card info isn't a good thing!

Thanks!

item #2 has been previously posted in the bug thread. it's an easy fix...probably slipped through the cracks.
