That is so ridiculous and it is exactly the kind of reaction the terrorists are looking for .... fear. The terrorists would find a way to get the photos they need even in spite of a ban. It wouldn't be that difficult with today's technology. This could sure put a damper on tourism, couldn't it?
At least there is some semblance of sanity...
I just had a read of these articles... certainly seems that the Southbank management are being a little over zealous. At least the Victoria Police spokesperson has the right idea...
<quoted from="" article="">{from the article}
Victoria Police told the Herald Sun it was unlikely any police officers would order the removal of images from a camera under such circumstances.
"I've checked with our privacy people and they said there's no law against taking photos," a spokeswoman said.
{end}
<end quote="">I think if a terrorist wanted to get photos of an intended target, they would be able to do so anyway, irrespective of these ridiculous bans. BTW... I'm a serving PO in a different part of Aust and I certainly wouldn't be stopping people from taking piccies...
Nope, they're everywhere. We've just gotten rather good at elevating them to top decision-making positions to incur maximum suffering. That reminds me, I still need to get myself the international apology t-shirt.
Anyway, yep the terrorists have now won. Wonderful. :bluduh
I saw 3 tourists having a mongrel time trying to take their photos in brisbanes largest shopping centre last week-end as i was waiting outside the movie theatre (still in the main building) & offered to take it for them.
It was a very small digital that could fit inside my hand & security walked passed as i was talking to them & taking 3 diff shots & didnt seem to even look at us. I wondered how diff it would have been if i had set up my DSLR & tripod ? That little camera of theirs took a great shot from what i saw in the LCD.
To all gov't officials: It aint the guy that you see thats going to get you...its the one you walk past & ignor.
