i was just shootin some of the performers, and this guy breathed fire very briefly, so the one time he turned toward me i got a few shots off.
5fps, Av mode at f5 on 70-300IS @ 150mm, spot metered the flame right in the middle of his face, the camera used the fastest shutter speed available 1/8000. i was lucky to get anything of his body exposed, any more exposure i probably would have blown out the fire i think. also at 800 ISO, but that is just from needing it for the other performers. i could have gone lower.
i have a couple other shots from his front, not as good, this one has the flame in a perfect ball without any dissipation. the others are from the side. he only blew one ball at my side of the audience.

This is not fire-breathing, this is an explosion!
The fireball looks so solid; it looks like a cloth lit from the inside.
Tell us: What was your setup, shutter-time, etc.... :
When I hear the earth will melt into the sun,
in two billion years,
all I can think is:
"Will that be on a Monday?"

Life is a compromise of what your ego wants to do, what experience tells you to do, and what your nerves let you do.
