APS-C vs. EF-S - Meaning the same thing in lens specs?

Howdy crowd!

I'm looking for a ultra wide angle zoom lens for my 10D.
The 10D doesnt have an EF-S mount but 3rd party
manufacturers seem to offer "Canon mount for APS-C
size sensor" lenses in the 10-24mm range. Does that
mean that I can use those lenses on my 10D, or do
these lenses also have the EF-S inherent extended
rear element that collides with the Mirror on EF Bodies?

I'm especially interested in the Sigma 10-20mm.

Hoping for your advice...

APS-C is a reference to the imager size that many crop 1.5 and crop 1.6 cameras use. EF-S is a lens mount, specific to Canon camera dSLR bodies, and common to most, but not all, Canon crop camera dSLR bodies.

The 10D has some problems with EF-S lenses:

The Sigma 12-24mm is about the only mountable lens that I know of for the 10D that doesn't require modification and still provides the super-wide angle of view. Some folks have problems with accurate focus with that combination.

Thanks for the effort and digging out the links ziggy. I wasn't
aware that one could do this type of modification to a lens :):

I was aware however that EF-S mount lenses dont fit on the
10D. The question was more if the lenses from Sigma and the like
designed for APS-C sensors actually have an EF mount or an
EF-S mount. The difference being that the former would
mechanically fit on any FF body and especially on the 10D.

I guess I was too dumb, but after some more googeling I found
a couple of sites where users report that the Sigma 10-20
and the tamron 11-22 fit the 10D. I'm still looking around for
more hard facts. But I guess thats pretty much the answer
    I was hoping for.

    for example:

I'm pretty sure that the "designed for APS-C sensors" specification refers to the size of the image circle and not to the lens mount or to extent to which the lens protrudes into the mirror box. Lenses which produce a smaller image circle will mount on full-sized sensor cameras, but can not be successfully used as not all the sensor will be exposed - you'll get sever vignetting (sp?).

If the lens mount ws other than the "standard", I would think the manufacturer would state so in the marketing propaganda, if for no other reason than to limit the number of returns from irritated customers who buy the lens only to find that they don't mount on their cameras.
