Neat scene but the top feels cut off. It was no doubt a tough capture and for a low light shot (ISO 1600) it's very crisp. I just wish there was more sky and the tops of the flags (?) in the frame. Nice conversion. I'd title the image "Cow Circus".

Laughing.gif....I like your idea for a title. Thanks for your comments. You're right about the lack of space at the top. I was rushed trying not to get separated from my family. I have 2 other shots. One has more space, but it would have to be titled "U Circus" as I managed to shoot it right when all the lights went dim but the "U"!

    S-
Come-On ... what's more important, the shot or your family ...

I like the quality of the conversion. The lady in the lower left is very distracting as see looks out of the photo. I'd crop her out so that everything is flowing to the right.

So how did you do the conversion?

Thanks Gary. I see you were at the Fair also...I was there Wednesday. I took a ton of shots...was having fun with my wide-angle. I wish I could tell you I have a definite forumula for the black and white, but it varies alot with what I am working on. Don't know why, it just does. I do the basic 50/0/50 in Photoshop, set the black point and adjust curves like crazy. Somehow I never come up with enough contrast. Sometimes I use Virtual Photographer and start with the High Key filter and adjust within. I need to nail down my methods...I spend too much time in PS!

Here's another B&W ... I didn't have a tripod, these are all hand-held, so unfortunately I couldn't go for the long exposures to catch all the lights!

Nice shots! I like your conversion also.

I went down to the fair but didnt bring the camera. I looked up at that big ferris wheel and thought there would be some good images to take from it. On another note I entered a few black and whites into the fair which was kind of fun.

    see ya around!

Thanks FastScan, I like looking at the ferris wheel, but I think I prefer to keep my feet on the ground! But yes...I imagine you could get some pretty awesome shots on the ride...makes me dizzy thinking about looking through a camera and while going up and down and around!!! :uhoh Wish I had known about your entries at the fair...I didn't get to check that part out. umph.gif
