Altough it already seems so distant, it is only a few weeks
since the FIFA Soccer World Cup took place here in Germany.

It was the time when I discovered my love to "high energy" street
photography or whatever you would call it. During the days of
the world cup, streets and cafes were filled with people, watching
the games on the TVs and large scale public viewing areas.

The weather was always nice and although it was hard for me,
not to sit near a BBQ grill and watch the games myself, it has
been a really great time and alot of fun to shoot the fans.

We have three universities in the city (where I live) with its
typical student streets with bars cafes and the like. That
made it easy for me to locate the spots in town where the
energy would always peak whenever the German team played.

It's a feeling of its own, when you walk through the city to
a location and then you suddenly hear screams comming out of
windows, the cafes, from the streets around the corner: "Aaaaahnnooo!"
or "Yaaaahaaaa!". Hehe. I always knew the score not watching the
game.

I was then shooting with goosebumps on my back, my camera's buffer
akeing at its limit, as the people celebrated in the streets, it was just
fantastic!

For some shots I had my camera mounted on a monopod,
triggered via cable release. Unfortunately I didn't have a
fixed flash sync set for the night shots. Camera shake was
also a problem due to the nature of the monopod held on
the wrong end to get high above the heads.

While I know that these shots are far from being perfect,
it was still one of the greatest experiences I've had taking
photos since I started with this hobby early this year.

Even tough I had a lens shade trampled on, one shirt brunt
by cigs sparks and several beer spilled across my head. I
would do it again, knowing what I could do better next time.
