I have taken a job in Chicago and will be here for 2 months. Since I am in the big city I figure I should go around and see all the sights and check everything out. Here is what I could come up with!

The John Hancock tower reflects off a building downtown.

John Hancock Center with a plane soaring overhead

Looking down from the Hancock Observatory 1000 feet above the streets.

After going up the observatory I went home and went out another day on the water. I too kthe Windy Sail ship and it was a beautiful ride on the water.

Here is Chicago with the sun going down.

On the boat riding Like Michigan

A Lighthouse off Navy Pier.

Another cruiseship leaving the Pier.

And I forgot that before going to the lake I wandered town and found some cool things.
Here is the water tower built sometime around 1869 I believe that actually survived the great fire of Chicago.

There was a lady doing street art and it was quite interesting to watch her. It was quite the joy.

Then I went to the bean and got my picture trying to hit higher than my friend!
chicago23.jpg

This is what it looks like on the inside!

And a little buildering before home. This is phil climbing the walls. Ahhh....

Hope you enjoyed. As I am spending more time here I am sure there will be more!

Welcome to chicago. Great pics. The shot looking up the Hancock and your bean jumping shot are excellent. The bean is a photographic enigma to say the least.

Excellent shots! I was worried we'd see you climbing the Sears Tower!

    Very nice work, man.

    Wow
I'm "imprezzed" with what you've seen and done in the short time you've been here. I live in the suburbs and I haven't done half the activities you have in even the past ten years. I have to get out more often.

you've got some nice shots there prezthumb.gif I spent about 5 years on the south side of Chicago while I did my grad work. My hubbie took the train downtown every day for work - he could probably point out which bldg he work in in your silhouette shot. But if you ever get a bit south, check out the University of Chicago for some neat gothic style architecture (gargoyles and all:D) and the Hyde Park area. Frank Lloyd Wright's Robie house is there too. All my time there was pre-photography (and of course, being the science geek that I was at the time, I spent all my time in the lab mwink.gif) so I don't have any pictures to show you.

    cheers,

    C.

Love the 5th shot. Well it looks like you're enjoying yourself here. If you ever want to go out and shoot or need anything just yell. I'm no expert on the city but I know a couple cool spots.

Care to share some cool spots around town? I'm trying to think of some scenic areas around town that don't require me to fight summertime traffic in the city

I think the best way to get around is to not drive. Thats the only reason I am going around all the time and taking pictures. The el is awesome.

It's always a pleasure to see great images of Chicago. I hope to get to the City before the weather changes for the worse and snap a few. Thanks for sharing your series.

    Just some quick thoughts:

    Wrigley building
    Inside Water Tower Place
    Follow the Chicago River
    Buckingham Fountain, day and night
    Grant Park in general
Marina Towers, look beyond the obvious
    All the museums

Also Richard was there last year:

The "Bean" is either beautiful art, or a goofy distraction, depending upon your state of mind. (Inebriation is said to enhance the beauty.:D)
