Wow! Great capture!clap.gif I am fascinated with fire (scary, I know) I really like this photo. I'm guessing you coated the inside of the bottle with the rubbing alcohol and lit it?

Gosh what an effect eek7.gif you be careful if you plan on telling people how you did that, especially if there is a chance it could explode or kids get the wrong idea wont you.

Good Shot..... the rippling looks amazing, as does the colour .

Tricky lighting problem but might yield a very cool result.

at 1st I thought it was blue smoke in the bottle - cool effect, but I echo the others sentiments about being careful...

It looks as if he used a SoBe bottle, they are very thick and strong. Also with the large hole in the top, it isn't likely to break since the fire has an easy way out.

I did the same thing with a root beer bottle. That was a dumb decision. It had a small hole on top, so when I lit it, the fire shot out like a jet engine! Needless to say, I havn't done it since.:uhoh

Yes, this was rubbing alcohol is a glass bottle. There is very little danger but you have to be a weeeee bit careful. I used to do this experiment in front of my science class (I used to be a teacher) and it really is "fairly" safe. Just becareful of what is above the bottle and make sure you don't knock it over....

You put an ounce of alcohol into the bottle and shake it... this coats the bottle and makes the alcohol vapor mix with the air. When you touch a match to the top the alcohol burns from top to bottom with a jet engine rush sound with a flame that can jet 6" or more out of the top!

If you do it inside a 2 Liter plastic bottle it REALLY flames up and can cause the bottle to distort a little. Really neat!

Give it a try... just take precautions. Use a long match and do it in a secure area (kitchen sink, outside on a concrete patio etc) the first time so you don't accidently do something unwanted.

Cool effect, it immediately reminded me of a rather nasty accident that happened in the local woods last year when two plonkers filled fluorescent tubes with petrol, lit them and pretended they were light sabres, doh!

Yeah... don't do that. 3rd degree burns are not a good exchange for art in any form.
