I am heading to Kauai for my honeymoon in about a month (yikes!). Looking for a tripod that folds up real nice and small so it can fit in my backpack for hikes and not take too much room in luggage. I saw one at ritz that was roughly 12 inches but unfolded to be almost normal size. It had telescoping metal legs and the demo model already had one broken, so i passed on that. Don't need anything fancy or super nice, just to hold the camera level and up off the floor. Any suggestions?

What is you're shooting with? What's your biggest lens? What's your budget? Why do you think you need a tripod? What are you going to shoot?

The options are from $15 to $1500...

amvona has an ebay store, try there before you buy from their online site, the ebay store usually has the same items for a much cheaper price.

^I agree. On the eBay store you can get their stuff for dirt cheap. THey're good quality products, too! I got a nice ball head for $3 brand new, in box. Their price on their normal store was over $60!

This is not the first time you guys mention their ebay store. I was looking at ebay over and over and never could find any of their item that was considerably cheaper than what they have at their regular online store.

Maybe I'm looking at the wrong segment, or something? headscratch.gif
Do you mind to provide at least one example (two links) of something going under very different prices? I just wanna make sure I'm not missing anything here...ne_nau.gif

I believe that Hawaii has decent winds.

A lightweight tripod with flimsy aluminum legs is to be avoided.

That's true, but I don't see any decent chances of getting lightweight non-flimsy tripod for under $100...ne_nau.gif

ebay listing for carbon fiber monopod....(hopefully this works):
    http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=010&item=200010824338&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMEDW%3AIT&rd=1

    $38.50 + $17 s/h

Same carbon fiber monopod from their online store:
    http://www.amvona.com/v7/shop/?page=shop/flypage&view=1&product_id=2137

    $191.95 + free s/h unless you buy 10 or more, then they're $172.76 each

I dunno, thats a big savings if you ask me.

So far the best one I have used that is also affordable has been this one:
    http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/controller/home?O=productlist&A=details&Q=&sku=428998&is=REG

I use with success with the 20D and a collard 70-200.

It is suprisingly stout for its weight and height.

This is the ball head I got off their ebay store. Long URL, so click here

I got it for $3 with $10 shipping. Expensive shipping, but still, that's only $13 total for the ball head.

Here's the same item on their normal store. Clicky
