So yesterday was a big day for me, I bought myself my first dSLR, a 30d. :clap
I've used SLR before, and p&s, but this is new for me. It was already
late by the time I got home with it, and it was starting to get dark, so not
alot I could do, but read the manual and play around a bit.

Today I went to visit one of the camp-locations of a company I work for.
Of course I could not leave home without my new toy.

Both shot with a 50mm, no post except for a little USM.

comments and information on how to use the thing very much appreciated :D

Congratulations. 30d is a brilliant tool.
I like the first photo but I would crop it as a square so the bottom is cropped just after his feet. That would bring more foxus to the photograph.

Congrats on the new toy, I sure love mine.

The first pic is a keeper and I agree with Ted, crop 4 x 5 and lose the bottom. The lime green really works with the boys hair and skin tones.

I tried the square, but wasn't 100% happy with it, so i came up with this:

    Is it an improvement?

Thanks Scott, i agree with the crop, it's better than the original. I am quite happy with the shot actually, especially since it was taken on the first day i shot with the camera, i like to call it beginners-luck though...
