I just got kind of "bored" with the shots I did last week. I like everything, but can't settle. Plus, my time is kind of weird, I am trying specifically for a bird shot for myself.

This was shot into the sun a bit, worked it up, dropped out some of the water ripples, converted to black and white, increased the contrast in levels, etc.

Great pic Ginger but I wish that you had left some more detail on the waters surface and on the birds as well. Not a ton but just a bit more texture.

Thanks, Truth. I guess I am going around and taking everything out of high contrast photos shot in that time period.

This was Sunday, yup, I stripped her! Pure blacks, pure whites. Playing.......wish I could get something I was passionate about!

    Would like an abstract, actually.

Ginger - I really like the picture of the birds. It captures the challenge concept quite well. The composition almost makes the birds look like a reflection off of each other - which adds more interest to the photo.

The reason I did not "grab" it as an idea at once, it was in the back of my mind, but that seemed to be the bird's comfort zone, and they "could" get no closer.

Oh, the other thing is that, in general, I feel birds are birds and in a separate category from other themes.

I agree, though, much better than the boat, though I think the boat is a better shot, but it belongs in a "surreal" challenge, IMO. Not contrast.

I still like your original black and white of the children for the challenge but the birds are wonderful and better for a contrast challenge, IMHO, than the boat. I agree that the boat is a great photo - it is just a stretch for me to see it in terms of contrast, except in the most abstract sense.

Very, very nice photo of the young girl, but probably not the strongest entry for the challenge.

I hope you find something to enter that you are passionate about but in undertaking the search you sure have come up with some great photos. As always.

I like the 1st shot best for contest material. The girl in the 2nd shot is very pretty and I like the high key effect.

I really like the birds. I liked the children too but the eyelashes of one child were showing through on the face of the one in the foreground. I'd go with the birds.

15524779-Ti.gif although I also agree with a previous poster that you've lost a little too much detail from the water.

I like the idea in the bird shot, very nice contrast. But I get the feeling
the two birds are not connected, almost like two different shots were
used, taken at slightly different angles. Maybe some ripples connecting
the two birds fading from left to right so my mind sees them in the
    same plane.

The girl shot blows me away. The face/skin/eyes is beautifulclap.gif and
and it contrasts with the hi-key background. Love it.
