My friend has just approached me. Its his girlfriends 30th birthday tomorrow.

He wants to by her a camera. shes creative and bright but shes no intention of taking photography as seriously as many here.

Shes elegant so I figure an elegant user friendly camera is what the dr. ordered.

We have $350 MAX, so figure in any accessories.

Can you get a leica for that?

also to bare in mind is that we live in Beijing which has us a lil' limited in choice. If you can respond there will be one beautiful and happy young woman sending her thanks.

The Canon "A" series Powershot cameras are excllent. Dunno if the style factor is what you're looking for. ne_nau.gif

I went to Steve's Digicams, and it looks like you could get a Panasonic Lumix DMC-FX9, with 6-megapixel resolution and a Leica DC Vario-Elmarit lens.

I agree with Shay that a very respectable camera, at this price, is the Fuji F30, with 6-megapixel resolution and really good low-light performance.

I would also consider the Olympus Stylus 710. It is a awfully nice camera with weather-resistant seals, so it can be used in wet conditions or even snow without too many concerns.

P.S. Tell your friend a diamond speaks volumes more than any camera could.

Ooops, it's more than 12 hours. I guess he dodged the bullet this time. :D
