Ants

This was my first time shooting ants, and there are a couple of things I want to try the next time like getting their reflections and using extension tubes to go above life size...

The "studio" was simple: I mixed honey and water together until it was the consistency of pancake syrup and then I spread it out on a grape leaf and waited for the little critters to come to dinner. Some of the shots are using natural light (hence the shallow depth of field) and some I took in full manual mode and let my flash provide the lighting. All of the images are life size -some of the ants are bigger than others. Canon 20D + 100mm macro lens.

Shutter priority 1/250, F5.6, ISO 400.

    Nice series, well done.

Equipment and some EXIF would be valuable information.

How many photographers does it take to change a light bulb? 50. One to change the bulb, and forty-nine to say, "I could have done that better!"
