Ok, I'm working on getting myself out shooting more, so here is my first attempt at a lesson. A very neat mirrored, angular building gave me some opportunities to find some simple shapes and lines as well as some reflections. (It also gave me some "Straight Up" shots, but I won't use the same shoot in multiple lessons. )

My first foray into learning how to use my camera. I hope I have come to the right place. I have a Canon DSLR (I think I have that terminology right). I haven't ever really switched it off auto, but I would love to learn how. I would appreciated critique and advice (in the simplest terms possible, as I really have no idea). I am a quick learner though, so a weekly assignment should be great.
When the Challenges stopped I was looking around for something else and saw these instructional file and thought it might be a good idea for me to do. I shot one for this (in June), but I delayed uploading the photos, so that it became - not fresh. I actually didn't even upload this photo until today.
But when I was out yesterday, I thought I would try again for this particular challenge. These were shot yesterday (August 21) and I hope that the fact that I knew about the project in June won't be a problem.

Simple Shapes and Lines
Hi GrandmaR,
I enjoyed your simple shapes. I, too, like taking pictures of the mundane and turning it into art. I especially liked the tree stump. You could experiment with taking the objects completely out of context by zooming in on just the shapes, or cropping in the darkroom so that, in the tree stump, for example, the viewer only sees line and texture. Just a thought.

Gonna try to do a couple or three lessons in a week to catch up. This is fun.
Down't sweat it! Please try to keep up with the most recent ones, and only then work youway backwards...
Thanks!
And I'll shift to the last task. "Dashboard" scares me though... it means I gotta clean my truck out.
