Another Tour, another drug scandal

The announcement today that the winner of this year's Tour de France, the American Floyd Landis ( has tested positive for the male sex hormone testosterone provided a dramatic finale to an event already scarred by doping scandals after nine riders, including the pre-race favourites never even made it to the start line.
Although Landis cannot be judged guilty of cheating until the second of two urine samples has been tested, the presence of what the International Cycling Union (UCI) the sport's ruling body described as "an unusual level" of the drug does not bode well for the 30-year-old rider, who wrapped up his victory on Sunday in the showpiece final leg on the Champs Elysees.
