My UV light arrived today

So later tonight I took it for a dry run.
I switched my Canon 30D into its Sensor Cleaning mode, turned off the light in the dining room and explored the sensor surface with the new light.
At first I didn't notice anything at all, the sensor surface looked uniformly clean and even.
But wait - after a minute or so, when my eyes adjusted to the relative darkness, I could clearly see several anomalies on the sensor plate.
My attempts to blow them off with the rocket blower didn't bring any results, so I guess I'm up for a wet cleaning session. However, I will feel much more comfortable doing it not only knowing exactly what parts shall I clean, but also knowing that I can immediately verify the results without going through the rather tedious test shot routine.
All in all - $16 well spent, methinks!

I bet you can check your teeth with it too!:D

Good to hear it works as planned.

Before you clean it, go through the tedious test shot routine.

    Do the motes show up?

Just did it. Yes, very small and light ones, had to look hard for them.
Not really worth cleaning at this point.
However, I'm really amazed that this light helped to locate them :):
Hopefully, this means that it would help to locate the real ones, too:-)

    Cheers!

Excellent, thanks for doing that Nik. It helps to know what's worth cleaning and what isn't. thumb.gif
