...that took out Pompeii in 72 AD can be seen in these images

Canon 20D + 24-105 F4 L IS. Hand held (IS enabled) aperture priority (-2/3 EV), F4.5, 1/80 first image and 1/60 for the second. Minimal post processing and no cropping. A storm was rolling in this morning so I grabbed the camera and took these shots from my balcony as I was getting ready for work.

Wonderful clouds. That second one somehow reminded me of the film Independence Day...the alien ship is just about to break through. Nice work.
