Saturday August 12th 10:30 am a few of us (namely: Tom, Patrick, Eddie and Derick from LA Shooters and ChrisJ and me from Dgrin) met at the front gate of the Huntington Library. We spent a few hours there and then Chris and me split. It was a rather hot and sunny SoCal day, very harsh light :dunno Oh well, we had to use what was available.

The Library, a former private property of a railroad tycoon Henry E. Huntington is now a public museum (like a Hearst Castle) located on 150 acres. It consists of several gardens, museum and the library itself, that stores some unique pieces like one of the first prints of the Bible, etc.

Today we only visited Chinese, Japanese and Bonsai gardens and Shakespear Alley. Our guide, Tom from LA Shooters, who's been there several times before, said that even the whole day would not be enough.

Below are some pics from our trip.

I have about 8 or less keepers. I'm a bit slower so I'll try to put up some of the keepers onto my webpage tomorrow.

I think I had like maaaaybe three (out of almost a hundred).

And I didn't do any serious post there, ACR only (thank God for RAW!).
Due to my Wildwood adventure today I was up since 5 am, so when I came home from our trip I realized that I'm very tired and decided to hit the hay for an hour... which turned out to be a little longer than that :lol

Anyway, looking forward to see your work! thumb.gif

    Very beautiful series Nikolai.

Although I think this study belong in the "Jourey's" forum, It's still nice to take a peek at them here.

    Thanks for sharing.

Cool shots, Nik. I really like #2, since all my pics of that bridge failed. My other favorites are #9 (girls with the fishies) and #19, beautiful trellis! #20 was hardly worth posting... :D Nice job with the dragonfly, too, I don't think I ever saw one land.

I agree, sweet shots, Tom. I also really like the earlier one of the archer and the dome ceiling. thumb.gif

I don't want to leave Nik out of the close-up photographer portraits...

If it weren't for such outings, I wouldn't have any pictures of myself like ever - I'm always behind the camera, not in front of it :-) rolleyes1.gif

Hey guys, thanks for checking out my gallery. Those really wide shots were made with the Canon 1DMark II N with a 15mm fisheye. Sometimes I do miss the fish. Some defish the image but I embrase the fishiness.

I've been to the Huntington once before and I took similar shots but you guys did much better. Nice going!
