Tried My Hand at BIF's

Hi Folks.......... went down to the boat ramp after work today, to see if there were many birds there...... and I got lucky :clap :clap

I suck at BIF shots, but today I just sat and watched as the Gulls kept coming in, then looked up to see 3 Pelicans fly over :D

Notice the Seagull has only got ONE FOOT ?? Looks like he's had the other one bitten off.
I got to see this guy up close, and he definitely only had one foot when he got out of the water.

Almost missed the Pelicans, but here's two of the better shots I got this afternoon ........... Enjoy..... When I grow up I wanna be like Harry :D

    I love this shot, Skippy! Sad that he only has one foot. It just looks like the 2nd is still under water.

    There was quite an assortment of sea birds down by the Boat Ramp yesterday, but there was two small boats with teenagers hooning around making heaps of noise and scaring them off .

    I got 5 ducks the other day....all in focus! clap.gif Just lucky that they were parallel to me.

    You see that a lot with Seagulls for some reason, I don't know how it happens, if they actually get eaten by some sea creature like a shark??
    Or if they get caught in netting and loose fishing line left discarded some place ??

    Other than the foot actually missing, he looked like the stump that was left was well healed ......good for him :D he had no trouble flying.

    Hey Harry.............. I've tried to do BIF's before without any real success, but when you got these ShootOuts you learn a lot from the folks there, and on the forum too........ I believe I have always been doing two things wrong.

    One was making sure I had a good speed to be hand holding and to stop that flight action in mid air.

    Two was making sure AVI Servo was on and not just Auto Focus

    Yesterday after work was a great opportunity to go try what I learnt out.........yep I'm gonna learn to be a Good BIF'er like you Harry clap.gif

    Thanks Awais.......in the summer more Pelicans come down our way, this year will be interesting as the Council have been busy making the swimming area better, and making a new walking path and grass area.

    This will attract more people, not sure what it will do for the bird life.
