Time to Relocate

Greetings all....

I will know for sure next week, but it looks like I may be relocating away from Beautiful Southern California...

I have been offered a job opportunity in Glendale Arizona. It's something that I would be a fool to pass up.

On top of the job venture, it will be a chance, for my wife and I to buy a house and establish ourselves.

It is a very exciting and at the same time stressful experience.

Looks like the camera funds take a back door for a while though :cry

any kind of housewarming or good "L"uck gifts will be greatly welcomed :) hehe

just thought I would share with my online family.

When opportunity knocks, you've got to answer. Sounds like a good situation. Are there camera stores in GLendaLe?

Congrads! Arizona's a bit hot in the Summer but truely a beautiful state - and a nice job, home, yip! Your current gear should tide you over for a while.

Having lived in North Phoenix, Mesa, Chandler, Tempe, Peoria (right above Glendale), Cottonwood, Camp Verde and (after 7 years in SoCal) BACK in Cottonwood, I might recommend you look in the Peoria area--Arrowhead Lakes (your wife might like the mall there). If you don't mind just a bit of a commute, the Anthem community in New River might be another prospect.

I wouldn't recommend Maryvale (right below Glendale), South Phoenix or Youngtown (a misnomer to be sure, as you MUST be at least 55 to live there).

Or do you already HAVE a house???

I'm gonna warn you right now: Arizona has a way of growing on you!

Oh sure, leave this wonderful area, and its lovely traffic, smog, overpriced real estate, plastic people, overdeveloped, over-used, crowded landscapes and head out for the desert...

...wait! Take me with you! rolleyes1.gif

Hope your new endevors are wonderful ones my friend! Congrats and keep on shooting!

Arrowhead Lakes is a very nice area indeed. Let me know and welcome.

Thank you all for your best wishes and thoughts.

Seems things are definate now. Paperwork is almost finalized with HR and the offer has been made.

Only thing we're waiting on is the date. Life is about to change completely for us, but I'm sure it's all for the good.

Sad though that my poor gear is gonna have to take a back seat for a bit :( due to lack of funds...

hmmmm.... maybe i should start a barter... haha

Well, now. Escaping the Midwest, are we?

I made my break from Wisconsin to Phoenix in December 1981. Took a couple of attempts to get settled but made my second stab again in September 1987.

I haven't been back to Wisconsin since!

I don't mind Michigan at the moment, but its also 75 and sunny outside today. rolleyes1.gif

The misses may be getting a job out there though, and I said I'd be game to follow, so we're gonna run with it if it happens.

yeah, Arizona will grow on you. You're in a good spot up near Phoenix..."not too far" from Tucson and our mountains/hiking/great photo ops down here, "not too far" from Flagstaff/Sedona, "not too far" from the White Mountains, "not too far" from the Mongollan Rim, "not too far" from the Grand Canyon.

Down here in Tucson, everything's a bit far away for day trips...

it is hot (but oh, it's a dry heat), but man, chasing monsoon storms for a good photo or going out to dark skies for astrophotography is totally awesome and not like anywhere else :D

Though we've never met, sorry to see a fellow Orange Countian leave! But I think you're going to love Arizona once you get over leaving the beaches (bummer!). :cry You're moving in Autumn and it should be gorgeous! Lots of photo ops there....and all different from what you've experienced here in O.C. The good news is........your on-line family is wherever you go! :photo So we're looking forward to some new stuff from you once you get settled. Do carry your camera with you everywhere, as there is lots of stuff to point at!!! wave.gif

    Steven-

October 15th that is pretty soon. Lucky for you, you will be arriving just in time for our "winter" to break. You know low 70's during the day low 50's at night and clear skies.

As the other AZies stated-Grand Canyon- Sedona- White Mountains- Tucson- Tombstone-Superstition Mountains-Meteor Crater- Canyon De Chelly- and Monument Valley are all within a short drive.

Oh yeah, 5 hours can put you in Vegas, Rocky Point Mexico, or back home for a little weekend getaway.

You will find plenty of terrain to use that Jeep of yours as well. Let me know when you are ready to see some of the back country. We can do a meet up or give you some locations and directions.

    Welcome!
