Wild Animal Park babies

Spent a few hours at the San Diego Zoo's Wild Animal Park. Really cool, more open than a regular zoo. For some reason there were an unusual amount of babies present, here's a few...

I know this picture sucks but I had to way overexpose it to get the mom and baby rhino to show up. They were hiding from the noontime sun - all the other rhinos were in the mud pools.

Another so-so photo, but there are 2 young giraffes in this mob trying to get leaves from the "big stick" where the handlers hang it. The tents in the background are part of the overnight camping program.

I was always told that flamigoes are born white - guess that was true!

I don't recall what these birds are but the babies were pretty young - the eggshells are still there.

These guys were my favorites, not only because they were cute but they were also very close to the railing by the pond. I only had my 28-75mm with me. That other bird kept staring at the babies for some reason -

Mom tried to give him a hint to move along but it didn't really work...

So one of the little guys decided to take matters into his own hands!

Not great photography - very harsh lighting and not much zoom with me, but I had a bunch of fun! Next time I'll bring my 70-200mm, go early and stay late!

    DJ-
Looks like you were able to hit a few places on your trip to San Diego. You took the tram around the wildlife park didn't you? I have a few rino shots from my visit-mostly backsides.
    Good job.

Yeah, we hit Balboa Park, this park, walked around Del Mar a bit. That's about all my FIL was up for, but it was good to spend some time with him. Oh yeah, we went to Todai too. Yumm! :eat thumb.gif

I think I could cruise around San Diego for a few weeks easily! Two days was not enough.

Thank you Dick - I wasn't all that happy with the harsh light, but I enjoyed it very much.
