I think the auction is for one mirror which is symetrical and can be used as a RH or LH mirror. Pony cars were designed to be cheap, and what could be cheaper than a reversible mirror? I do think the auction however is for one mirror. You can check by going to a classic car parts website and searching for an OEM mirror if there isn't a RH/LH listed than the OEM part was reversible.
Mirror
GUS- The ad is read as LH equals RH. There is only one mirror and can be used for either side. Before electronics almost all cars were this way. Escpecially our cheap, assembly line American cars.
Your friends 500 HP ford. He must be useing a newer crate motor with a super charger or nitros. Other wise he is really dropping some serious money into that car.

From what I recall, one mirror fits both sides.

Not 100% sure about the Ad though... but that's the story on the stang

Not a great photo but can get an idea. Looks like this was a popular rally car from what I could find.
