Usually I post my pictures with a small blank rim on the bottom with some EXIF info for whoever is interested.
Personally I think it's not disturbing the picture. See this sample:

Picture # 1

The process to do so is not automated because PS 7.0 don't let me do so. This means I have to look-up the EXIF
and write it manually. Curently I found a way that almost automate the whole process. Now I can put a
watermark (Top left) automatically and the EXIF (bottom) automatically (Except lens make & model).

The reason for this post (If I may) is to ask your opinion about the results. I frequently display my pictures add
schools / clubs and other social gatherings and I wand them to look okay.

Here 2 samples of the new "Look"

Picture # 3

Software used to do so is: FastStone Photo Resizer 1.4 (Free!)

Please give me your opinion.

Dick.

Current workflow:
* Make color / exposure adjustments in Nilkon Capture 4.4
* Convert NEF to JPeg in Nikon View or NC 4.4
* Crop / Resize in PhotoShop 7.0
* Touch-up in PS 7.0
* Extend canvas at the bottom
* Save as Jpeg 10
* Run trough FastStone Photo Resizer 1.4 to add watermark and EXIF.

    I think that the new way is fine, I don't think that it takes away from the picture at all. It reminds me of photos in a book or magazine with the captions at the bottom like that.

    I don't care for the watermark though, but these appear to blend in with the picture, so they could be worse.

    JMHO :D

    I like the first one Dick, but the other ones are not all that bad either.

    Thanks Dennis.

    The most, until now, do like the small info-rim at the bottom. I think I will stay with that.

    Hello Dick,

    I personally would opt for the first picture as it leaves the actual picture totally undisturbed.

    I find exif info very importatnt as it adds an extra dimension to just a picture and.... its something forum members can learn from.

    Thanks for sharing!thumb.gif

    Ik hoop dat jullie het droog houden. Er komen namelijk erg natte klanken uit het verre Nederland.

    I think the 2nd way works, provides the EXIF info and, IMHO, if you move the watermark to the lower rt corner, it might be more unobtrusive. So, depending on how much more time it removes from the work flow, it might be worth it.

    I think I stay with the small bottom border. I replaced the watermark with a less obvious one. A sample in this thread.

    It's not the way I like to behave on any form but I like to give this thread a one time bump.

    When I display shots off the internet I have no borders. For the internet I use a script to display the exif info. If you're going to display your shots off the net I would opt for no borders and exif data.

    Thanks for you input Harry.

    That's a possibility but this means that I have to keep two Jpeg versions of my pictures. One to show on the internet, the other for not showing on the internet.

    I choose for a not disturbing border to meet both worlds. I think the EXIF displayed and watermark in this post will be my future PP. Of course I have the NEF if I want a print.
